What does this request do?
It creates the letter carriers send to FMCSA when requesting a BIPD minimum insurance limit change, commonly from $750,000 to $300,000 for qualifying operations.
Who is the $300,000 limit for?
The sample request language is for carriers that will only use non-commercial vehicles weighing less than 10,001 lbs going forward. If that is not true, do not submit this request without reviewing the correct insurance requirement.
Does the tool file insurance for me?
No. This prepares and submits the carrier request letter. Your insurer still handles policy filings and any BMC forms required by FMCSA.
