Get these ready before opening MOTUS. This is where the app can remove most of the panic.

Step 1

What to do
Use the official .gov site. Choose the Regulated Entities and Supporting Companies sign-in path.
Stop and ask for help if:
If the page looks like an ad, filing service, or private website, stop and use the official MOTUS link.
Step 2

Login.gov sign-in or account creation
What to do
Use an email address the applicant controls. Confirm the email, create the password, and add an authentication method.
Stop and ask for help if:
Do not use motorcarrier.ai's email. Login.gov belongs to the applicant, not the filing service.

IDEMIA identity verification
What to do
Follow the phone handoff, scan the ID, and complete the face scan. The legal name from the ID may populate the MOTUS profile.
Stop and ask for help if:
If verification fails, check name, date of birth, address, and ID image quality before retrying.

FMCSA Registration and Management System consent and rules
What to do
Allow Login.gov to share the account email with FMCSA, then accept the rules of behavior to continue.

These screens look serious because they are government account access rules. The applicant is still in control.

MOTUS user profile
What to do
Complete the user profile with the applicant's real contact details. Review carefully before moving on.
Stop and ask for help if:
If a name field is locked from identity verification, do not guess your way around it. Ask support before continuing.
Step 6

New Registration or regulated entity setup
What to do
Register a new regulated entity or link the existing USDOT number, depending on the carrier situation.
Stop and ask for help if:
If the carrier already has a USDOT number, linking the wrong entity can create a mess. Pause if anything looks unfamiliar.

Business information, addresses, identifiers, officers, and documents
What to do
Use the same legal name, entity type, address, EIN/SSN choice, officers, and supporting documents prepared in the preflight packet.

This is where copy-paste support matters. Small typos can become slow support tickets later.

Transportation Service Provider designation
What to do
Choose the option that says you will designate a Transportation Service Provider, then search for Motorcarrier.ai using the filer number.
Stop and ask for help if:
This is the handoff. Once the designation is complete, motorcarrier.ai can take over the application work from the TSP side.
Step 9

MOTUS confirmation or application dashboard
What to do
Come back to motorcarrier.ai and confirm that the TSP designation is complete. Include any confirmation or request number shown.

This should trigger our fulfillment queue so staff can pick up the assigned application instead of waiting for a customer email.
The next product step is to make this confirmation create a fulfillment task automatically. For now, customers should return to their order or portal and tell us the designation is complete.
